Old Fashioned?
Back when I was in school, it was a privilege just to even
borrow my parent’s hand phone for the weekend. Now, everyone has one. Like no
one can live without them. To think of it, I don’t think I can live without it
either. Finding out my hp is not in my handbag; I’ll be searching frantically,
taking out everything in my bag. And when u realize, u forget to bring your hp,
u somehow feel this big space of lost. Maybe someone is trying to get you, a
sms from a love one, worst the feeling that you are in no power to contact
others.
I don’t know about
the rest of you, but have u ever been in the situation above?
Since when did we become so dependent with this gadget?
And now, if you’re between the ages of 17 to say 60, you are
likely to own one. And if your working, and you don’t have a hand phone, it’s
just weird not having one and your boss will probably ask you to have one.
Now with the Internet, chatting, emails, so many rooms for
communication. Save money, its convenient, it’s just great.
For all the advantages to communicate with others, we tend
to use it to avoid communication with others too. Ok, hear me. For instance,
this guy who likes you keeps calling you, and you sort of don’t know how to say
no to him, so to avoid talking to him, you give him a sms explaining your
actions. Or, you don’t want to look so cruel, you ask him to meet you online,
you chat, and let him know. Or to be more blunt, you write him an email. I
really think it’s all avoidance to the right thing to do. You should at least
call and tell the truth, or best of all meet up. You’ve seen it on papers,
getting divorced by sms, what a load of crap!
I know a guy once told me; maybe he’ll meet me online once
in a while and catch up. Well, I don’t know about you, but it’s so not flattering.
In fact I felt insulted. With all the other ways to communicate, meet me
online? What’s that? Like there’s no other way to communicate? You can call me,
or ask me out, now that’s flattering. Girls, if a guy does that to you he’s
Obviously Just Not That Into You!
So, yeah, don’t get me wrong. I really like the way things
are now. I love having my hand phone, and I so can’t live without the Internet!
If the connection is down, I rather not be at work. And if I don’t get to call
out for some error or what not, I’ll get really restless. Like when I was away
to Oz, I couldn’t sms or call out for I don’t know whatever reason, I got
really frustrated for the first few days, after that, hey I’m still OK, alive
and kicking! But with all this, I still want to talk, meet up, hang around with
people. That’s the real deal. Yeah, u can chat, email, but it’s not the same. I
think sometimes we take for granted with the old fashion way. In many ways, I’m
still an old fashioned gal. How bout u?
